Large loads

Oversized load packing: machines, structures and modules in shrink wrap film

We pack large loads at your site: machines, steel structures, modules, containers, tanks and silos. We shrink the film with a heat gun directly on the object, so it fits its shape and protects it from water, dust and dirt in transport and storage. We bring the film and equipment anywhere in Poland, so you do not have to bring the load to us.

Film or crate

When is a load oversized, and when is film used instead of a crate?

A load is oversized when its dimensions or shape do not fit standard packaging: a large machine, a tank, a silo, a truss or a whole module. We pack such objects in shrink wrap film, because it shrinks on the load itself and takes its shape, even with unusual edges.

Film adds practically nothing to the dimensions, as only its thickness counts. In our experience a crate adds about 20–40 cm across the whole width, which matters for a large object when you book transport.

A crate is added when the load has to travel a route that film alone will not withstand mechanically. We order made-to-measure crates with the IPPC (ISPM 15) mark from the plant that makes them. Preparing a crate takes at least 2 weeks. When film is enough and when you need a crate is explained in our article made-to-measure transport crates (in Polish).

Types of load

What oversized loads do we pack?

We pack six groups of loads. In each we shrink the film on site; only the film thickness and the equipment matched to the size change.

01

Machine packing

Production machines, industrial equipment and process lines before transport or storage.

02

Steel structure packing

Structures, hall components, trusses and metal products, sealed for transport and for storage in the yard.

06

Packing for sea freight

Loads for a long voyage in a container or on an open platform, protected from moisture on the inside.

Projects

Oversized load packing projects

This is what some of the large loads we packed on site at our clients looked like:

Silos · sea freight to the USASilos for the voyage to the USA Stainless steel silos spent one and a half to two months at sea on their way to the USA. Inside, desiccants, corrosion inhibitors, VCI and barrier foil did the work, and on the outside there was stretch film, straps and crates.
Cabin with a facade · over 4 m wideCabin with a facade, up to 14 m long The cabin with a facade was up to 14 m long and over 4 m wide. Shrink wrap film protected the facade from dirt on the road.
Six machines · the other end of EuropeSix machines with electronics in one day We packed six large machines, with a heat exchanger and electronics inside, in one day. They went to the other end of Europe.

How we do it

What does oversized load packing at your site look like?

We come to the load with the film and equipment, shrink the film on site, and the load is ready for loading. Step by step:

  1. 01
Dimensions and photosYou give us the dimensions of the item, its location and the planned transport date, ideally with photos.
  2. 02
Film selectionFor domestic and European transport we usually choose 180 μm film, for large items and sea freight 200 μm, and for long outdoor storage and sharp edges 250 μm.
  3. 03
Packing on siteWe almost always work under cover, in a hall (approx. 98% of jobs), because we do not pack in rain or wind. We strap open-frame elements together so the film has something to rest on, and then we shrink it with a heat gun.
  4. 04
HandoverWhen the work is done, we sign a handover report with you. You or the carrier load the cargo onto the vehicle, usually the next day. We do not transport loads ourselves.

Load protection

How do we protect an oversized load from moisture, UV and damage?

Film protects the load from the outside; for moisture inside and corrosion we add separate protection. Shrunk film tightly covers the object against water, dust and dirt, does not flap in the wind and does not collect water like a tarpaulin.

Film alone does not protect against moisture that stays under it or condenses in a container. For a long journey we combine it with VCI or a sealed barrier with a moisture absorber, as with the silos shipped to the USA. The materials are in our shop: VCI aluminium barrier foil, VCI anti-corrosion paper and desiccant.

For outdoor storage, sunlight matters. The clear 120 μm half sleeve from our shop has UV protection and is suitable for outdoor winter storage. For sharp edges and long storage we choose thicker film so that it does not wear through. You can buy film on rolls in the category shrink wrap film on rolls.

Coverage

Shrink wrapping service at your site, anywhere in Poland

We come to the client's hall or yard and pack on site. We have been packing since 2012, all over Poland; our clients in recent years have been companies from 14 provinces, and outside Poland we have packed in Germany.

An order can also come from a carrier or forwarder who received a load to transport without packaging (in Polish). In that case we agree the packing location with the sender.

Pricing

How we calculate the price

We quote based on the dimensions, weight and photos of the load. The price depends on the area to be wrapped (m²), the film thickness, the number of items and travel. For sea freight, protection on the inside is added (barrier, absorbers, VCI).

You can work out an estimate in our quote calculator, and we will give the exact amount after your enquiry.

Documents

VAT invoice and details for purchasing departments

We work on a VAT invoice. Company registration details for your supplier database (full name, tax ID (NIP), KRS number, address) are in the page footer.

Tell us what to pack

What to prepare for your enquiry
The more we know at the start, the faster we can prepare a quote.

  • dimensions (length × width × height) and number of items
  • approximate weight
  • where the load is: hall, yard or port, and in which town
  • loading date
  • where it is going: destination country and how (trailer, container, ship)
  • a photo or drawing, if you have one
  • whether the load is already on a trailer

Don't have everything? Send what you know and we will ask about the rest.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will the film withstand sea freight and winter outdoors?

Yes, if it is matched to the route. For sea freight we combine the film with moisture protection on the inside, as described on the page packing for sea freight. For winter outdoors, thicker film or a half sleeve with UV protection works well.

How long does it take to pack a large load?

It depends on the dimensions and the number of objects. On one job we packed six large machines in one day, but that was the result for those particular machines, not a fixed standard. The load usually goes onto the vehicle the day after packing.

Do you come with your own equipment?

Yes. We come to the address you give with film, heat guns and equipment. All we need is access to the object and space to work around it.
